Overview
LA is synonymous with celebrity. The heart of American entertainment beats here. The most famous neighborhood is, perhaps, Hollywood where many of our favorite American movies were made. And no trip to LA is complete without a stroll down the Walk of Fame.
But it isn’t all about movies and television out there. With warm weather year round, almost every day is a great day at the beach for tanning, swimming, or surfing. Museums and art galleries abound. Disneyland can easily fill a day or two for families. And there’s plenty of shopping, strolling, and eating to be done, too.
For different tastes of LA life, you can easily check out a variety of neighborhoods on your trip. LA boasts the largest port in the United States where you can shop, book a boat ride, or take a trip to Catalina Island. Wilshire is perhaps the next most well known neighborhood after Hollywood. In Wilshire, you’ll find CBS Television City, the Farmer’s Market, and the Miracle Mile.
NightlifeLA is the place to be for a night out. With over 1,000 dance, musical and theater groups in LA, you’re bound to find exactly what you’re looking for. An average of over twenty new theatrical shows open every week.
Clubs and bars are bountiful, but their popularity is fickle. Ask around for tips on the best places to go after you arrive. Whether you hit up the club of the week or not, there is always fun to be had. Plenty of bars and clubs line Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Scattered throughout the city you’ll find Martini bars, piano lounges, dance clubs playing everything from hip hop to Latin music, and beachside bars.
CuisineMovie stars aren’t the only stars drawn to LA. The City of Angels attracts the big name chefs, too. Craft by Tom Colicchio serves a seasonal fine dining menu to prove he’s more than just a celebrity. You’ll have to book early for a table at Osteria Mozza created by Joseph Bastianich, Nancy Silverton, and the legendary Mario Batali.
LA is also known for the sheer variety of food available. Cheap ethnic restaurants prove that Los Angeles really is full of people from just about anywhere. Convenience grocery store Trader Joe’s originated here and you can stock up on your favorite items at the original store. Food trucks are plentiful and serve up everything from ice cream to giant sushi burritos.
