Overview
During the day, Vegas can be quiet. Daytime is great for a bit of gambling when it’s quieter, lounging at your hotel pool, or even exploring beyond the city. Nature lovers will find some opportunities to hike in places like Red Rock Canyon a short drive away.
At night, the city lights up, literally and figuratively. As the sun goes down, the neon lights switch on and its time to get up, get dressed, and go out on the town. If you stay on the Strip, you’ll be able to eat, drink, gamble, shop, and see shows all within an easy walk of your room. Vegas is a relaxing vacation because it’s so easy to plan: book a room, show up, and find out what the hottest new shows and casinos are when you arrive.
NightlifeStrolling along the Strip past the neon lights of casinos and resorts at night, you’ll discover it’s a free sound and light show for all who walk past. You’ll see the volcano at the Mirage erupt, pass the Eiffel Tower, and gaze at all the neon that surrounds you.
Beyond the lights, you’ll find excitement inside all the flashy buildings you encounter. The city is known for its casinos, which will entertain you whether or not you choose to gamble. If you are a gambler, you’ll find every game you like here in an atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else. Look up from a Blackjack table at Circus Circus and you might just see some acrobats flying overhead. Legendary casinos like Caesar’s Palace and the Bellagio are often crowded, but worth visiting for the ability to see and be seen and to experience their legend and luxury for yourself. The MGM Grand is Vegas’ largest casino with a spacious feel even when it is crowded and great restaurants including one by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse.
There are spectacular shows every night of the week in Vegas. From musical acts to magic shows to Broadway shows, there is something here waiting for you. Cirque du Soleil is one of the most popular choices and they do several shows at various venues along the Strip.
ShoppingVegas is a paradise for anyone who loves to shop. In addition to casinos and theaters, the Strip is lined with shops and resorts with their own shopping arcades and malls. The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian are located in a recreated Italian village scene complete with gondoliers steering gondolas down the canal. Shopping here is mostly high end, but not too high end with stores like Jimmy Choo and Ann Taylor with a few Venetian glass shops mixed in for Italian flair.
The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace claim to be America’s most profitable shopping mall. The mall is worth strolling through even if you don’t want to shop. The architecture spans several centuries of grand Italian styles and the highlight is the sky ceiling that changes from sunrise pink to a clear starry night scene. If you are planning to shop, The Forum is where you’ll find the big name high-class shops like Louis Vuitton, Versace, and Gucci. There are your mall standards like Gap, too.
Parallel to the Strip on Maryland Parkway, you’ll find all the big box and department stores as well as drugstores and grocery stores where you can pick up anything you forgot or discover you need on vacation. Shopping here is also much cheaper than on the Strip.
